Daily Devotion for July 24, 2006

Miracle Maker

"O LORD my God, let this boy's life return to him!" The LORD heard Elijah's cry, and the boy's life returned to him, and he lived. Elijah picked up the child and carried him down from the room into the house. He gave him to his mother and said, "Look, your son is alive!" Then the woman said to Elijah, "Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is the truth." 1 Kings 17:21-24

God is never alarmed when we lack, in fact He loves it. For this is when we see HIS provisions and can proclaim the wonders of His love to others.

There is neither time nor space to share ALL the miraculous provisions I have witnessed God give to many others and to me. Indeed each one is a faith-builder!

One day I suddenly sensed God nudging me to call an elderly widow that lived near by. He knew she had fallen and could not get up. Calling helped her to realize that she could reach her phone cord that dangled near by. The telephone cord being right there within her reach illustrates how we often have Jesus within our reach just by “dialing” home yet we allow our struggles to make Him seem out of reach. When we keep our focus on God our situations are often opportunities for us to see God’s miracles and make Him seen.
Recently I was the one needing council. I was discouraged and needed someone to listen and help me sort some things through. God gave moment-by-moment grace to continue on. In the meantime he was speaking to the heart of a sister in Christ to call me. Through her He brought to me His supernatural provision of comforting words to lift and restore life to my soul.

When you or someone you know is lacking in anyway, cry out like Elijah. God sent birds and bread to provide for him and then used Elijah to be the provision for restoring the widow’s son to life. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. So cry out and look up when there is a need, because God is preparing to send down His miraculous, supernatural provisions to you or through you. Then share His wonders with those who still need to know of our Miracle Maker.

Prayer:
My God of Miraculous Provisions, Thank you for always being there for me. You are my refuge and strength, my ever-present help in time of need. Because of your faithfulness I can delight in my weakness, hardships and troubles, for you will be my supernatural strength, deliverer and provider. And may You receive all the glory. Amen.
