Daily Devotion for October 4, 2006

Hope

The demons begged Jesus, "Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them." He gave them permission, and the evil spirits came out and went into the pigs." Mark 5:12

This world-system is dominated by Satan. This is a fact, and could be a very scary fact at that. In fact he works the hardest at and within God’s church.  However, there is a reason to not be scared: Jesus has given us new life. God invaded planet earth with His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus has complete control over the forces of evil, and that's why I have hope. Without Jesus, this world is a pretty dreary place. Without Jesus, all I would have to look forward to would be that which would not last, not satisfy, and likely harm. With Jesus, I have eternal life and am able to live in confidence that I have an advocate on my side who has the powers of this world-system begging at His mercy.

Prayer
Lord, thank you for invading this world and saving my soul. You not only saved my soul, but You have given me new life. The powers of darkness have no power over me - all because of You. Thank you for giving me something I didn't earn. Thank you for giving me HOPE to face this day.
